Walmart, Meredith look to make food media content ‘shoppable’

Walmart has teamed up with media company Meredith Corp. to help families buy ingredients for meals and prepare them more easily via artificial intelligence-powered meal planning, shoppable recipes, visual search, chatbots, virtual assistants and social media.

Under the partnership, announced Wednesday, consumers will be able to shop for Walmart food and grocery products across Meredith’s portfolio of media brands, including Allrecipes, Better Homes & Gardens, Parents, EatingWell and Real Simple. Through these new “shoppable ad experiences,” customers can access content providing meal solutions and add recipe ingredients directly to their Walmart online grocery cart for pickup or delivery.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has updated the Sept. 6 recall of European Butcher brand bacon “chuncks” and smoked side bacon slices distributed in Ontario for fear of Listeria contamination.

CFIA said its food recall warning issued on Sept. 6 has been updated to include additional product information. This additional information was identified during the CFIA food safety investigation. European Butcher is recalling European Butcher brand bacon “chunks” and smoked side bacon slices from the marketplace because of possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Consumers should not consume the recalled products described below.

Despite facing severe staffing woes, a family-owned restaurant in North Carolina hasn’t stopped cooking up free meals for dozens of local heroes every day.

The Shark Shack, which has only two employees on its payroll, is determined to stay open for its customers and so it can keep serving “appreciation” meals to the servicemen and women throughout Carteret County.
