“The Napa Salvation Army Culinary Training Academy announces the return of Out of the Fire, a one-of-a-kind, two-night event featuring celebrities, guest chefs, an online auction and live music, all with a goal of raising awareness and funds for students in The Salvation Army Napa Valley Culinary Training Academy.
“The first night, Wednesday, August 18th, will take place at Raymond Vineyards in Rutherford, CA and features an immersive culinary experience.
“Night two, Thursday, August 19th, takes guests into the newly renovated Historic Theatre in Yountville, CA for the first time ever, and showcases GRAMMY Award® winning singer and songwriter Zach Williams. Williams will also perform a tailored selection of material on night one.
“The two-night event puts the spotlight on The Salvation Army Napa Valley Culinary Training Academy, an incredibly unique and successful certified culinary jobs training program that transforms the lives of people who have struggled with homelessness and substance abuse. Through this program, students are able to develop kitchen skills to support meaningful employment in local hospitality industries, all while gaining professionalism, confidence and dignity.
“During night one at the Raymond Vineyard property, guests will be treated to a culinary tour with food stations featuring an impressive collection of renowned chefs.
“Salvation Army Culinary Training Academy Director, Executive Chef Paul Fields, Salvation Army Executive Chef/Instructor, Eric Magnani, Chef Rebecca Peizer, formerly of the Culinary Institute of America and creator of the program’s curriculum, and Executive Chef Ethan Speizer of Ashes & Diamonds Winery in Napa, CA and former Chopped champion on the Food Network will all prepare delicious food for guests to enjoy.
“Also new this year to Out of the Fire, but not new to the work of The Salvation Army, is Chef Seth Stowaway of the much-anticipated Osito. The restaurant, featuring a live-fire tasting menu, is slated to open this fall in San Francisco’s Mission District. Stowaway has been forthright with his own drug addiction issues and found a path to recovery via his culinary work.
“The Napa Valley Culinary Training Academy also includes up to two years of housing for graduates, ensuring stable addiction recovery and job growth.
“On Night two of Out of the Fire, Celeste White and Robert White, ardent supporters of The Salvation Army and part of a public charity called Lux Forum, will open the doors of the newly rebuilt Historic Theatre in Yountville for a live concert by Zach Williams.
“This intimate evening, limited to 125 guests, offers three levels of tickets starting at $100 up to $500 for small bites, early access and a special meet and greet with Zach Williams. Situated in central Yountville, The Historic Theatre was originally relocated from Mare Island in 1950 and is situated behind the Yountville Community Church.
“The Whites and team have restored both buildings with the Theatre serving as a place to fulfill the mission of Lux Forum, which is to connect intellectually curious people with spiritual ideas.”
