Blue Springs celebrates groundbreaking for new Whataburger restaurant

Whataburger broke ground Thursday in Blue Springs on its new restaurant.The company held a private event with the mayor, city council, Chamber of Commerce and other civic leaders.Whataburger will open four stores citywide with locations in Independence, Lee’s Summit, Overland Park, Kansas. All four stores are expected to open by the end of the year.Whataburger announced partnerships with the Kansas City Mavericks and the Metropolitan Community College at Penn Valley.The company is currently hiring managers and other positions. Whataburger was founded in Corpus Christi, Texas, in 1950.
