Craig Moseley / Houston ChronicleH Mart, the country’s biggest Korean grocery chain, will open its long-awaited first San Francisco location on April 21 — and inside, there will be a location of popular Korean restaurant Daeho Kalbijim & Beef Soup.
Located at 3995 Alemany Blvd. in Ingleside Heights, the new 42,000-square-foot store will carry ingredients that are essential to cooking different Asian dishes, from produce to meats and frozen foods. It’ll also come with a food hall, dubbed the Ktown Food Hall, with five stalls offering primarily Korean cuisine.
Among the stands will be the first expansion effort of Japantown’s Daeho — known for its gurgling beef stews covered in bronzed cheese — and a new Bay Area location of Left Wing Bar, a Korea-born fried chicken chain that also operates in San Jose.
Two other spots, Da Pan and Da S.F.C., will serve casual Korean eats. And a location of Korean bakery chain Paris Baguette will open within the food hall at a later date.
Next Wednesday, the debut will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 9:50 a.m., with doors opening at 10 a.m. After that, the store will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
The new location has been in the works and highly anticipated since 2018. Based in New Jersey, H Mart has more than 90 locations nationally, including two in San Jose.
