Press release from Kingfisher’s:
May 25, 2021
Tucson, AZ—Kingfisher’s signature cross country culinary adventure returns this summer after a year’s hiatus due to the pandemic. Now in its 27th year, Kingfisher’s Road Trip is one of the most enjoyable rites of summer in Tucson. The virtual tour features classic cuisine from six distinct regions of the US. The 2021 tour begins in the Southwest, followed by stops in the Pacific Northwest, Great Plains, Midwest, Back East, California/Hawaii, and Down South.
In preparation for each Road Trip season, Chef/owners Jim Murphy and Jeff Azersky and Kingfisher Executive Chef Fred Harris draw to see which two regional menus they will each design. Pastry Chef Marianne Banes creates amazing desserts appropriate to each menu and the Kingfisher bartending staff provides the cocktails, wines, beers and spirits representative of each stop along the way. Throughout Road Trip, guests are offered punch cards to use as they enjoy the “ride”. When five Dinner Road Trip entrees are purchased, the sixth one is free. At the end of the season, a special “Best of Road Trip” menu will feature guest favorites from the tour. The Southwest Road Trip featuring a menu created by Chef Jim Murphy begins at 4pm on Tuesday, June 1 for dinner, and at 11am on Wednesday, June 2 at 11am for lunch.
